Manual install

You'll be prompted to download the installer during onboarding, immediately after you sign up, so that the client-side observers your organization has chosen to use can be installed. You can also get it later from the Install page under Preferences. Launch the installer after downloading it.

The first step is to connect your Mac to your Proxon account. You'll be redirected to the web, where you'll need to sign into Proxon if you're not already authenticated.

The app then walks you through the specific macOS permissions it needs. Which ones you're asked for depends on the observers your organization uses. You may be prompted to:

• Approve a network system extension. You'll enter your administrator password. This is what lets Proxon capture the AI network calls your tools make.
• Trust the Proxon certificate. You'll enter your administrator password again. This lets Proxon read the details it needs from those calls, like the model, the token counts, and the cost.
• Allow Proxon to add a proxy configuration. This routes your traffic through the capture path, so there's something for Proxon to read.
• Grant Accessibility access. This lets Proxon see the title of the window you're working in, so it can attribute activity to the right app. It also lets the app open the right System Settings panes for you during setup.
• Allow access to data from other apps. This one is optional. It lets Proxon see the names and timing of Claude Desktop scheduled tasks. Without it, those tasks show up unlabeled.

Proxon detects which browsers you have installed and offers the ability to install the extension for any supported browser (i.e., Chrome, Firefox, Safari). You only need to install one, but be sure to install it for any browser that you use for work.

After installation completes, Proxon will automatically start and you'll be prompted to connect your computer to your Proxon account. You'll be redirected to the web, where you'll need to sign into Proxon if you're not already authenticated.

If your organization uses the Browser Observer, the extension is installed automatically for Chrome. Firefox and Edge need to be added manually, which you can do once installation completes by looking for the appropriate button in the Browser Observer section of the Proxon app.
